Psi Omega Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. was chartered in Rochester, NY on June 23rd, 2011 by 10 Prodigious women. The founders of the Psi Omega Zeta chapter are: Shawndel Tavolino, Carla Facey, Roshelle Walker, Joyce Akwaa, Ayana Williams, Jameelah Hood, Nina-Shevon Steverson, Caroline McClendon, Andrella Hurley, and Millicent Akwaa. Driven by the belief of “Taking Steps Towards a Brighter Future”, these 10 women embarked on a journey that was never heard of, chartering a second chapter in the small city of Rochester, NY. These Sorors spread the word of Zeta even farther than its reach in Rochester.
Under the auspices of their principles of Scholarship, Sisterly Love, Service and Finer Womanhood, these trailblazers provide a wide range of service in the name of Zeta. The members of Psi Omega Zeta Chapter have committed themselves to continuing to empower and uplift the Rochester and surrounding communities.
Since its chartering, the Psi Omega Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. has grown in size; from 10 members to 24. Its First initiates are Sorors K. Ellis, T. White, N. Ferron, A. McFarland, and D. Smith.
The chartering members of Psi Omega Zeta have also reactivated the Zeta Iota Chapter; breathing new life into the campus of SUNY Geneseo. The new members of the Zeta Iota Chapter are Sorors P. Cummings, C. Hardy, L. Miller and A. Kaplan.
